Its highlight feature is the ability to augment and upgrade characters each round for powerful builds.  <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8bc7ce3\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>The roadmap was revealed following reports by Blizzard Entertainment sharing that Stadium had <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PlayOverwatch\/status\/1918062881930711315\">proven to be very popular<\/a>. On top of the organisation&#8217;s rapid response to <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2025\/04\/overwatch-2-stadium-changes-community-feedback\">community feedback<\/a>, it&#8217;s clear that Stadium was a success.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8bc8289\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>In the post online, Overwatch 2 noted that 7.8m hours and 2.3m matches were played during Stadium\u2019s launch week. Moreover, Blizzard Entertainment revealed that in its first week, roughly 50% of all play hours in Overwatch 2 were from Stadium.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8bc884c\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>There&#8217;s a lot to unpack here, but the key highlights from the Overwatch 2 Stadium roadmap include:<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Freja is coming mid-Season 16. <\/li>\n<li>Junkrat, Sigma and Zenyatta in Season 17. Stadium added to Custom Games. <\/li>\n<li>Sojourn, Winston, and Brigitte in Season 18. New game mode &#8211; Payload Race. <\/li>\n<li>Season 19 and beyond will see Draft feature added, new heroes every season, and more. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8bc8f90\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>The biggest takeaway here is the new mode teased, Payload Race. Not much was shared about how it works, but it will feature two brand-new maps when it launches sometime in Season 18.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8bc957d\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>For further details, fans can read the <a href=\"https:\/\/overwatch.blizzard.com\/en-us\/news\/24198087\/director-s-take-past-present-and-future-of-stadium\/\">latest Director&#8217;s Take<\/a>, the online blog post on Overwatch 2&#8217;s official website. The post highlighted the success of the new mode, while reassuring that the standard modes will not be neglected.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8bc9b31\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>In the blog post <strong>Aaron Keller, Game Director for Overwatch 2 at Blizzard Entertainment<\/strong>, said: &#8220;I&#8217;d like to reiterate the team\u2019s commitment to the other core modes of Overwatch.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8bca0ec\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re still pouring as much time, energy and passion into these as we always have. Stadium isn&#8217;t competing for those resources: it\u2019s giving us more opportunities to deliver Overwatch in a new, exciting way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8bca692\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>So it appears that while Stadium is being built up over time, development won&#8217;t be slowing down for the core game modes.
