The Overwatch 2 Stadium Reddit AMA saw 11 developers take to the comment section, which saw over 500 questions and answers posted.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-heading-6818ac8c16d74\" class=\"esi-heading \">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"will_hero_bans_come_to_stadium-2\">Will Hero Bans Come to Stadium?<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" alt=\"Overwatch 2 role queue hero bans draft system 2025\" class=\"wp-image-180179 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/C42HI8BTU5G31744861294593-large.avif\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Image credit: Blizzard Entertainment<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8c1747b\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>When asked about the possibility of bringing the recently introduced draft system to Stadium, developers shared that it is something they are looking into. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8c17a6e\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>In the AMA <strong>Conor Kou, Senior System Designer at Blizzard Entertainment<\/strong>, said: &#8220;We definitely know something like a hero pick\/ban system could be a positive addition to Stadium. It has a lot of interesting implications for team compositions and the meta. It is something we&#8217;re interested to explore.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8c18015\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>However, other developers added that it was still early days, especially as the new mode has only debuted with 17 heroes. As more of the <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/overwatch-2-tier-list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">best characters<\/a> are added, there may be a higher chance of hero bans being added.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8c185ce\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>In the AMA <strong>Daniel Duffin, Test Analyst at Blizzard Entertainment,<\/strong> said: &#8220;Hero bans are still a new system in Overwatch, and we felt it would be too limiting with Stadium\u2019s current roster. With Freja&#8217;s recent introduction in Season 16, many anticipate when we will be able to see the bounty hunter in the new mode &#8211; and potentially Aqua when he is scheduled to arrive in Season 18. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8c1983c\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>In the AMA, Duffin said: &#8220;The current plan is to add new heroes to Stadium [in] the mid season after they release. For existing heroes, there are many factors that determine which heroes enter the stadium. While hero popularity is one, gameplay is generally considered first. Kind of like how DVA was introduced into Overwatch at the same time Mei was.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8c19e03\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s important to maintain healthy game balance when introducing new choices. With Freja&#8217;s domination in the standard game modes, there has also been increasing concern from the community.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8c1b05e\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>During the AMA Kou said: &#8220;We\u2019re going to be making adjustments to both Soldier76 and Juno this week in a balance hotfix, as well as some updates to some other heroes.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-6818ac8c1b60c\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>&#8220;We\u2019re committed to making quick balance updates, especially when something is feeling really out of bounds. There\u2019s a lot of stuff going on in Stadium, and we know we didn\u2019t get everything feeling just right yet.
